The Right Screw to be tightened
There was an industrialist whose production line inexplicably broke
down, costing him millions per day. The industrialist was loosing his profits from his business. There were some problems with the machines. He could not understand exactly what had happened with the machines. He finally invited an engineer to check the problems. The engineer came and
examined thoroughly and ultimately took out a screwdriver, turned one screw in one machine.
The machines started working properly. The industrialist became very happy along with the staff and workers. The engineer presented a bill of Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh).
The industrialist was unhappy with the bill submitted by the engineer. He asked the engineer the reasons why he had submitted a bill of Rs. 1 lakh just for tightening a screw where no cost was involved. He demanded an item-wise description of the Bill.
The
engineer explained that he has claimed Rs. 1000/- only for tightening the screw and Rs. 99000/- for knowing which screw to tighten.
Only the engineer had the knowledge to find out the right screw. The industrialist had to pay the bill.
